VIÑEDO | Villegas in Valtuille de Abajo |
Overview
Wine made primarily with Mencía grapes from the Las Villegas plot in Valtuille de Abajo. The vineyard dates to the end of the 19th century and covers an area of 1.7 hectares, with a density of 4500 vines per hectare, at an altitude of 580 metres. The soil is sandy, and its orientation is south-southeast.
Ultreia is made after harvesting at the end of August or at the beginning of September. Fermentation takes place in open vats with the whole stalk, and, after a maceration time of 60-90 days, it is transferred to second-year French oak barrels. Bottling is carried out without clarifying or filtering the wine.

Tasting notes
The explosion of reblochon rind in the nose is remarkable but with a deeper aspiration, notes of quark cheese with blackberries, broom and aromatic herbs from the bush arise. It has a very frank nose that undoubtedly corresponds to the variety with which it is made. In the mouth it is juicy, encompassing and balanced. It attracts attention for its finesse while showing a fresh and appetizing youth.
